About Us

We are a black female owned small business serving delicious vegan Nigerian fusion cuisine.

Meet the creator and owner of Jollofology – Oyinkan.

I was born and raised in Lagos, Nigeria. We have a very rich culture and heritage, with food being an important part of our gatherings and celebrations. Recently I transitioned to a vegan diet, which has really helped me feel better. But I still crave the tastes and foods I grew up eating. With a lot of experimentation, cooking, and tweaking of traditional Nigerian recipes, I developed my own plant-based versions, still maintaining the rich flavors my palate desires. I love making food for my friends and family, and they encouraged me to introduce the Salt Lake community to the art of jollof and plant-based Nigerian food.

Jollofology is a carry-out/delivery restaurant that serves 100% plant-based Nigerian fusion comfort food. We are located at ComCom kitchen on Sundays 12 – 8 PM for pick up or delivery. We also do pop-ups around Salt Lake City, as well as offer catering for small occasions/events. Our name is a combination of one of the most popular Nigerian comfort foods ‘jollof rice’, and the word ‘ology’, which means a branch of knowledge.

Jollof rice is a popular West African rice dish made with tomatoes, peppers, onions and an array of spices. Based on ancient recipes passed down from generation to generation, making jollof rice is an art form with a recipe varying across the different regions of West Africa.

Jollofology was created as a way to share my West African culture and heritage with the world. I am beyond excited to share my vibrant culture and cuisine with you!

If you’ve ever been curious about West African or vegan food, it’s time to get off the fence. Whether you’re more geared towards spicy, savory or sweet, we’ve got you covered at Jollofology. We promise you won’t be disappointed!

Welcome to the intro to the art of jollof…with a vegan twist!

Jollof rice is common in Nigeria, Ghana, Mali, Senegal, Gambia, Liberia…think of this staple dish as what risotto is to Italy and paella to Spain!
